What is a verification?

A verification is a single compliance check or document request run for a workforce member, such as a driving abstract, criminal record check, or document signature. Most verifications launch automatically based on a member's assigned Risk Profile, but you can also launch one manually at any time.

Launch a verification

Verifications launch automatically based on a member's Risk Profile, or can be triggered manually at any time.

Automated scheduling

Adding a workforce member to a configured Risk Profile automatically enrolls them in scheduled monitoring. Once assigned, Horizon manages the timing of each verification for that member without any further action needed:

  • If no result is available yet for the verification, Horizon launches it at 9 am the next day to generate a result. Once a result is obtained, future occurrences follow the recurrence settings configured for that service.
  • If a result is already available, the verification follows the recurrence schedule configured on the Risk Profile from that point forward.

Launch a verification manually

Most verifications are launched automatically based on a member's Risk Profile and recurrence settings. Use these steps if you need to trigger one outside of that schedule.

  1. Go to the Workforce tab and select Members
  2. Click the member's name to open their profile.
  3. Select the Verifications tab.
  4. Click the Start Verification button.
  5. Select the verification(s) you'd like to run.
  6. Click Start Verification to launch.

Note: If the verification requires input from the workforce member, such as a document upload or signature, they'll be contacted automatically by email (and SMS if a phone number is on file) with instructions.

View all verifications

Each verification has a status that reflects where it is in the process:

  • Scheduled: Scheduled, but has not started yet.
  • In Progress: Sent and pending completion or signature.
  • Completed: Completed successfully.
  • Failed: Timed out and must be relaunched.
    • Example: a required document is never submitted, required information is missing, or an external provider request cannot be fulfilled.
  • Cancelled: Intentionally stopped by a user action.

Reminder schedule

Once a verification is sent, Horizon automatically reminds the recipient to complete it after 24 and 48 hours.

If the verification is still incomplete after 72 hours and you wish to reset the reminder schedule, the verification must be cancelled and resent.

Cancel an in-progress verification

  1. Go to the Verifications tab.
  2. Select the verification you want to cancel.
  3. Click Cancel Verification on the top right-hand side of your screen.
  4. Click Cancel Verification again to confirm.

Resend a verification

To resend a verification that is:

  • In Progress: Cancel the verification first, then launch a new one.
  • Completed or Cancelled: These are already in final state, no need to cancel. You can launch a new one by following the Launch a Verification instructions above.

Note: Resending generates a new verification record; it does not restart or overwrite the original.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Can I launch a verification manually?

Yes. While most verifications run automatically based on a member's Risk Profile, administrators can launch one manually at any time from the member's Verifications tab.

Where can I see all verifications across my organization, not just one member's?

Navigate to the org-wide Verifications tab from the main menu. From there, you can filter by status and date range, and download reports.

Horizon sends reminders at 24 and 48 hours. If the verification is still incomplete after 72 hours, its status changes to Failed and must be relaunched.

Can I cancel a verification once it's in progress?

Yes. Open the verification from the Verifications tab and click Cancel Verification, then confirm.

Can I see the results of a verification that hasn't completed yet?

No. Full results only become available once a verification's status is Completed.
